We can always cuddle!

Well, after all my handwringing, Nutmeg is still nursing, although it's apparent that she's not getting as much as she used to. Which is fine, really. A nice way to ease toward the eventual end. She'll nurse for a few minutes, then I'll give her her milk cup and she'll sit on my lap, cuddle and drink for a few more minutes.

It reminds me of when my friend Kay had to take a break from nursing after surgery recently. She told her son, "There are plenty of other things we can do!" and then realized she sounded like an abstinence-sworn Christian teen or the consoling wife of a man struck with impotence.

My breasts feel so tiny right now that I can kind of understand what Gwyneth was about when she made her "reconstructive surgery" comments that have caught so much flack in the nursing mommyshpere.

And speaking of celebrities (this is my half-assed attempt at a segway) we rented the DVD of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" last night. I saw this when it came out in the theater, but I was excited to see the DVD because I figured there would be a bunch of material on it about the late author of the eponymous book the film is based on. Like, how far along was the movie when he unexpectedly dropped dead of a heart attack, and do the filmmakers think he would have liked the final product?

You know what? There was NOTHING. Yes, there was the obligatory "making of" reel, but with absolutely no mention of Douglas Adams. How bizarre is that? The director was all "blah blah blah casting, blah blah blah Jim Henson Creature Shop," and nothing about DNA.

I wonder if there is some kind of fued going on between Adams' estate and the filmmakers, so they couldn't or wouldn't say anything. I also suspect that Adams, who was credited as screenwriter with one other person, might have had objections to the script that was holding up the process. Because it was taking years and years to make a Hitchhiker's movie, and then about a year after his death, it came out with almost no fanfare at all.

Something fishy about it all.
