Eh. It's 10:42, and the baby has so far slept 1/2 an hour this evening. Epu went out of town, and he's the man who usually deals with Pebbles' first wakeup of the evening. With him not here, she just won't go to sleep without nursing, and I just won't nurse her. These standoffs are never short.
How is the No Cry Sleep Solution going? Well, we seemed to succeed at getting an earlier bedtime -- many nights, like tonight, 7:30 p.m. Of course, that is only because she no longer takes long afternoon naps like she used to. Today she took two naps, probably each less than one hour in length. Sometimes she goes 90 minutes. My head hurts.
So, as per the NCSS, we'll be going on to some kind of plan to chip away at the night wakings. I'm thinking one of two things: 1) I totally turn night wakings over to Epu, maybe one by one. That of course would require Epu to lose a substantial amount of sleep, and he has no vacation or sick days left this year. 2) "What to Expect in the First Year," of all books, has an interesting suggestion: Wake your baby up just before each of her regular wakings, instead of waiting for her to wak up. Do your normal get-back-to-sleep routine. Then gradually stop waking her up, and she won't wake on her own.
That second one sounds kinda mystical, maybe too good to be true. Right now, I'm tired enough to try anything. This baby was up at 6:40 a.m. Why isn't she as tired as I am???
I had all kinds of cute and amusing things to write about today, but RoboBaby has sucked all the fun out of me. Sorry, Go Cubs, etc.
We’re not going anywhere.
